EU starts AI transparency enforcement August 2
The European Commission says AI Act enforcement begins August 2, when chatbots must disclose that users are dealing with AI and deepfakes must carry labels. The Commission’s enforcement notice says generated or altered content must also carry machine-readable marks and lists more than 180 organizations that signed the transparency code. For operators who have been watching the EU’s August compliance line, provenance metadata and disclosure copy are now release-gate work, not a policy-roadmap item.
