GitHub retires two Gemini models from Copilot

GitHub retired two Gemini models—Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash—from every Copilot surface on July 31. Its deprecation notice directs users to Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview and Gemini 3.6 Flash; enterprise administrators may need to enable those replacements in model policies. Teams using the older models in repeatable workflows should rerun their evaluations, especially where Gemini Flash’s economics shaped agent design, because a model-menu change can silently move cost, latency, and output quality together.
