Samsung sees memory tightness lasting into 2028
Samsung expects the memory shortage to intensify in 2027 and tight supply to persist into at least 2028, according to reporting on its second-quarter call. Samsung’s earnings materials show why: memory sales reached KRW 120.8 trillion, up 471% year over year, while AI infrastructure demand is expected to keep server DRAM, enterprise SSDs, and HBM undersupplied in the second half. Operators should treat the long-dated warning as another reason to negotiate allocation before model demand arrives, rather than mistaking the headline value of memory supply agreements for deliverable capacity.
