Samsung engineers a 50MW floating AI data center
Samsung Heavy Industries and Mousterian signed an engineering contract for moored U.S. data centers delivering 50MW of critical IT capacity apiece. The partners say the first project’s design work will cover basic, detailed, and production engineering for deployments planned in Texas and other markets, with shipyard fabrication proceeding alongside sitework and cooling that uses no potable water. For operators tracking the power bottleneck behind Amazon’s $220 billion capacity bet, floating facilities are worth filing as a new way to reach stranded generation—but this contract establishes a technical baseline, not yet a finished EPC deal.
