Deel buys Clarity as fake-candidate risk reaches 25%
Deel acquired deepfake-detection startup Clarity as Gartner projects fraudulent profiles will reach 1 in 4 job candidates by 2028. Deel says Clarity’s identity checks will span sourcing, onboarding, and ongoing workforce access, rather than ending after recruitment; the company disclosed no price, although secondary reporting places the deal at $45 million to $50 million. Employers already auditing the career effects described in the 6.7-point wage-growth gap for AI-exposed work should add identity continuity to that review: remote hiring now needs a control that survives the interview and follows each worker’s access privileges.
