S3 Vectors reaches AWS's sovereign cloud
Amazon S3 Vectors reached the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in Germany with storage and querying at billion-vector scale. AWS says the service needs no provisioned infrastructure, and positions it for long-term or infrequently accessed embeddings rather than the high-QPS work assigned to OpenSearch. For teams weighing an AI gateway’s break-even point, sovereignty can now extend to the retrieval layer without a separate vector cluster—but latency and query-volume tests still decide whether cheap object-backed search fits the workload.
