Agent Plugins 1.0 reaches five agent clients

Agent Plugins 1.0 launched with one manifest format for two extension types—Agent Skills and MCP servers—and support across five client families: ChatGPT and Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Kiro, and VS Code. The vendor-neutral specification standardizes plugin.json, skills/, and mcp.json, while the launch announcement says AWS, Anysphere, GitHub, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Vercel refined the proposal together. For builders already navigating MCP’s stateless migration, the implication is narrower but useful: package portable instructions and tool connections once, while continuing to treat installation, permissions, and client-specific hooks as separate integration work.
