AgentCore holds production agents for 14 days

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore can now keep an agent session running for up to 14 days, versus 8 hours for its serverless microVM runtime. AWS’s general-availability notice says Runtime Instances place agents on managed EC2 capacity—including GPU, memory-optimized, and compute-optimized families—while AWS handles provisioning, patching, scaling, and lifecycle management across nine regions. For teams weighing AWS’s capacity-heavy AI strategy, the practical signal is that sustained agents no longer need to inherit the short-session envelope of serverless execution, though EC2 and compute-management charges now belong in the run-cost model.
