Aurora Serverless reaches 12 ACUs in one second

Amazon Aurora Serverless can now reach as many as 12 Aurora Capacity Units within one second, continue to 256 ACUs, and return to zero after a burst. AWS enables the behavior by default on platform versions 3 and 4, while versions 1 and 2 must upgrade; it is a small operational counterweight to the fixed-capacity economics behind Amazon’s $220 billion AI infrastructure bet. Teams running spiky agent workloads should check their platform version and load-test connection storms before keeping permanent database headroom for traffic that arrives in bursts.
