ChatGPT work use favors doing by more than 2x

OpenAI says people are more than twice as likely to use ChatGPT to complete a task or create an output at work than outside work, based on its first country-level release covering more than 1 billion users. The OpenAI Signals update also puts multimedia at 7.8% of messages globally and says the over-35 cohort’s share rose five percentage points year over year; the dataset covers individual Free, Go, Plus, and Pro accounts rather than managed organizational accounts. Operators should read this alongside the 6.7-point wage-growth gap in AI-exposed jobs: output telemetry is becoming a more useful adoption measure than seat counts, but it still does not establish productivity or causality.
