Copilot memory reaches JetBrains
GitHub added two practical paths to Copilot for JetBrains: persistent memory across agent chat sessions and Ollama as a bring-your-own-key provider, in an update with four named governance controls. In the GitHub changelog, the same update also gives administrators server-side controls for plugin availability, MCP access, permission bypass behavior, and OpenTelemetry, while making Copilot CLI installation automatic from integrated terminals on macOS, Linux, and Windows. For teams weighing AI spend controls in JetBrains, the filing-away point is that model choice and remembered context are now part of the IDE’s governance surface, not just a chat preference.
