Tau charges $30 for humanoid home cleaning

Tau Robotics is offering selected San Francisco households humanoid cleaning at $30 an hour, a live service that still depends on a human operator assisted by AI. The ABC News report on Tau’s launch says the robots can handle tasks such as vacuuming and wiping counters, while Tau’s service page makes the operating model explicit: robots are operated by humans and AI. The useful benchmark is not a robot’s sticker price but whether remote supervision can fall below the service rate; that is the next number to watch alongside the economics of humanoid robots on factory floors.
