Grok 4.6 reaches eight Copilot surfaces

GitHub is rolling xAI’s Grok 4.6 into Copilot across eight surfaces: VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, cloud agent, Copilot app, JetBrains, Xcode, and Eclipse. The GitHub changelog says Business and Enterprise administrators must enable the model because its policy is off by default, while usage is billed at provider list pricing. The rollout gives teams a new long-horizon coding option without changing platforms, but the right pilot is a small repository with model-choice logs and a cost ceiling—not a fleet-wide default; the archive’s GitHub agent control-plane analysis shows why the permission surface matters as much as the model picker.
