Stripe reportedly buys OpenRouter for $7B+
Bloomberg reports that Stripe has finalized a deal to acquire OpenRouter for more than $7 billion, according to TechCrunch’s report. OpenRouter gives developers one endpoint for more than 400 AI models and said in May that it had 8 million users, making the reported purchase a bet on model choice as infrastructure rather than a feature; Stripe declined to comment on the report. Builders should file the deal beside the archive’s AI-gateway break-even analysis, but keep their routing layer portable until the product and lock-in terms are public.
