Fortinet buys Virtue AI for agent security

Fortinet acquired Virtue AI to add continuous validation and runtime protection for autonomous AI systems. In Fortinet’s acquisition announcement, the security company says Virtue’s controls screen generated code and content for harmful material, sensitive data, jailbreaks, and vulnerable code; Gartner estimates the market for securing AI ecosystems and agents could grow from $2.8 billion in 2026 to $16.4 billion by 2030. The purchase price was undisclosed and immaterial to Fortinet, so operators should file this as a product-stack signal—not proof of efficacy—alongside the archive’s case for evidence-led agent governance.
