Gravis puts $200M behind autonomous excavators

Gravis Robotics raised $200 million from SoftBank in what it calls the largest Series A in construction robotics, funding a global push to scale autonomous heavy machinery. Gravis’s announcement says its systems are deployed with infrastructure leaders across four continents and that it is leading an $8 million UK government-backed CAM Pathfinder project with Flannery Plant Hire. Contractors should file the round as a scale-up signal—not proof that autonomy works across every messy jobsite—alongside the archive’s 20× sim-to-real testing funnel, and watch whether retrofit autonomy turns labor savings into measured uptime.
