Google gives students a year of Gemini free

Google is giving eligible college students one year of Google AI Pro in the U.S., a plan Google values at $19.99 per month, while students elsewhere receive a year of Google AI Plus. The official student offer also raises Gemini usage limits and adds a student hub, study notebooks, interactive visualizations, and other study tools. The operator signal is distribution rather than a new model: Google is subsidizing a full academic year of habit formation, so builders shipping assistant features should compare their retention and workflow depth with Gemini’s rapidly falling workhorse economics.
