Linear teams triple pull requests with agents

Linear’s new How Teams Build report finds coding-agent teams opened 65 pull requests per week in June 2026, up from 21 two years earlier, while traditional teams moved from 8 to 10. Agents and MCP clients also generated 2,435 of 4,916 weekly issues in the report’s Aug. 3 sample — just under half — but Linear cautions that opened pull requests measure motion, not whether a change is valuable or merged. Teams should treat agent adoption as a throughput experiment with review capacity attached, not as proof that product outcomes have tripled; GitHub’s pull-request control-plane work shows where that review burden is heading.
