Ramp Router targets 40% lower inference costs

Ramp launched Router, its U.S.-only model gateway, with access to 27 models and a claim of 40% average inference-cost savings; the service is free through 2026, while users still pay model list prices. The gateway exposes token spend, latency, fallbacks, and routing strategies, but its terms say Router stores inputs, outputs, and metadata to improve the service unless customers choose available controls. For builders, the useful fact is not another model catalog: routing is becoming a budget-control layer, and the privacy settings deserve the same review as the price curve; Stripe’s OpenRouter acquisition turns model routing into a payments-market battleground.
