Starcloud raises $250M for orbital AI

Starcloud raised $250 million at a $2.3 billion valuation to build orbital data centers, bringing total capital raised since its 2024 founding to $450 million, according to SpaceNews’ funding report. The startup says its planned Starcloud-3 would be a 200-kilowatt spacecraft, while Starcloud-2 is targeted for a 2027 launch and about 8 kilowatts of power. Operators should file this as an infrastructure option, not a near-term capacity plan: the company still faces launch availability constraints even as AI’s terrestrial power bottleneck gets priced into gas capex.
