AI maps an initiator in 60% of genes
UC San Diego researchers used roughly 500,000 experimental data points to train a machine-learning model that decoded the DNA pattern of the “initiator,” a gene-activation sequence found in about 60% of human genes, according to the university’s research report. The result offers a way to screen mutations for possible disease effects and design synthetic promoters, but it is a sequence-level prediction—not a clinical diagnostic. Scientific-AI teams should treat the pattern as a new hypothesis-generation tool that still needs wet-lab and patient-population validation, alongside the archive’s account of AI protein-binder design.
