Lightning robot runs 100m in 9.32 seconds
Honor says its Lightning humanoid robot completed a 100-meter sprint in 9.32 seconds at a Beijing test event, faster than Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second human record, NBC News reports. The Guardian notes that Lightning reached a peak 14.5 meters per second, while a separate robot posted 9.39 seconds at the games; neither result is a certified athletics record, so repeatability matters more than the headline. For builders, the milestone is a useful hardware-software stress test—not evidence that humanoids are ready for factories—and it raises the bar for simulation systems that turn robot testing into a 20x funnel.
