Nvidia licenses Poolside's model factory for $6B
Nvidia will pay $6 billion for a non-exclusive license to Poolside’s Model Factory, invest another $1 billion in the remaining company at a $12 billion pre-money valuation, and offer jobs to 109 employees, according to the reported deal terms. Poolside’s founders stay and the startup is not being acquired; the software is the system it used to build its own models, including Laguna, while the remaining company is pursuing a separate infrastructure strategy. Model builders should file the transaction as a price signal for training systems and talent—not just model weights—alongside the archive’s open-weight economics analysis, because licensing the factory may be the scarcer asset.
