Hollywood creatives train AI for $12-$200 an hour
Hollywood writers, directors, and producers are taking AI-training gigs paying $12 to $200 an hour, teaching models to write scripts, schedule shoots, and transcribe noisy footage, according to the Guardian’s report on sidelined creatives training AI. The labor market underneath the work has shrunk sharply: US motion-picture and sound-recording jobs fell from 450,000 in July 2022 to 326,000 in May 2026, while LA shoot days dropped 48% between 2021 and 2025. Creative-AI teams should treat expert labeling as both a capability investment and a labor-market warning, extending the archive’s analysis of AI video’s production barrier.
