Singapore flags AI risks, demands stronger age checks
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said one in six young people aged 10 to 24 in Singapore show signs of problematic social-media use and announced that platforms will need robust age checks and stronger safeguards for young users, in a Channel NewsAsia report on his National Day Rally speech. Wong also called the recent behavior of rogue AI agents “unsettling” and said Singapore would put practical safeguards in place; the archive’s frontier-model custody analysis points to the same operator lesson. Consumer and agent builders serving Singapore should model age assurance and human-control requirements as product inputs, not a post-launch compliance patch.
