Intel maps agentic AI from rack to edge

Intel presented three architectures for agentic AI at Hot Chips 2026: Diamond Rapids with up to 256 cores, Crescent Island with up to 480GB of LPDDR5X memory on a 350-watt air-cooled PCIe card, and Wildcat Lake with an NPU rated at 17 TOPS, according to Intel’s architecture overview. The split is a useful reminder that agentic infrastructure is not one box: orchestration, inference and edge execution carry different power and memory constraints. Builders should compare the three against their workload’s bottleneck rather than treating “agentic AI” as a reason to buy a larger accelerator, alongside the archive’s analysis of token-cost pressure in AI search.
