Quintessent raises $40M for AI optical links
Optical-interconnect startup Quintessent raised $40 million in Series A funding and began customer sampling of a quantum-dot comb laser that can generate eight wavelengths from one device, according to SiliconANGLE’s report on the round. The company says its gallium-arsenide design uses 40% less power than conventional narrow-and-fast architectures, a claim that still needs deployment data. Infrastructure teams should file the round as evidence that the optics layer is attracting capital alongside accelerators, and ask vendors for measured watts per bit before turning a lab claim into a cluster dependency, alongside the archive’s analysis of photonic AI-factory networking.
