Amazon closes Mechanical Turk on Sept. 30

Amazon’s closure FAQ says it will permanently close Mechanical Turk on September 30, 2026, ending a marketplace launched in 2005. The change also removes the Mechanical Turk workforce option from SageMaker Ground Truth and Amazon Augmented AI, while requesters get 30 days to approve or reject pending HITs; teams using MTurk for labeling or review should inventory dependencies now and choose a replacement, alongside the archive’s warning that evaluation infrastructure is production security infrastructure.
