W4 Games raises $18M to scale Godot
W4 Games, the company commercializing enterprise tools and support around the open-source Godot Engine, raised $18 million in a Tencent-led Series B, bringing total funding to $33 million and financing a 50% expansion of its international team, according to the company’s funding announcement. W4 says the number of Godot games earning more than $1 million a year rose from two to more than 50 in three years. For builders, the open-weight ecosystem’s shift from ideology to infrastructure is the useful signal: open software becomes a durable platform when a company can sell support, tooling, and regional distribution without closing the core project.
