South Korea opens 1.56T tokens to AI builders

South Korea is opening 29 AI training datasets totaling about 1.56 trillion tokens for free download through its national AI Hub, the Ministry of Science and ICT’s government notice says. The release includes pretraining, multimodal, red-teaming, and physical-AI data from five foundation-model teams, but access is limited to Korean companies, researchers, and students. For builders outside Korea, the immediate implication is a sovereign-data benchmark to watch; it adds a public counterweight to the open-model ecosystem’s race beyond model weights.
