Google puts Gemini data labels in Drive open beta
Google opened Gemini-powered data classification in Drive to supported Workspace customers, with the rollout targeting completion by September 30. The Google Workspace announcement lets administrators define instructions, apply labels across files, and log user acceptance or modification for audit and DLP workflows. Builders giving agents access to shared drives should file the control beside the archive’s case for treating persistent agent sessions as security boundaries: automated labels help, but a human review path still matters before an agent can act on sensitive files.
