Meta tests robots in data centers

Meta is testing robots for data-center cable swaps, server power-cycling, and maintenance, and one worker estimates a successful bot could replace up to 80% of some workloads. WIRED’s report says the pilots include Kinova, ABB, and Watney Robotics hardware, but also notes robots are slower than people, need recharging, and still fail at tasks designed for human hands. The practical implication sits next to the capital math behind physical-AI deployment: data-center labor is becoming another infrastructure variable, but the near-term bottleneck is reliable manipulation, not a robot demo.
