Silicon Data’s usage-weighted LLM Token Expenditure Index fell to $0.97 per million tokens on August 31, down 8.6% in seven days, the benchmark page reports. It blends observed price and consumption across 200-plus open models, 120-plus proprietary models, and more than 20 sources, so the reading captures workload mix as well as posted-price cuts. Operators should file the floor beside the coming GPU compute-futures market: budget against effective model mix, not one vendor’s list price.
