Waymo opens public rides in three more cities
Waymo is opening its first public rides in Denver, San Diego, and Tampa, taking its fully autonomous service to 14 cities, according to the company’s launch announcement. Waymo says tens of thousands of people in each city have already signed up, while its published safety comparison reports 94% fewer serious-injury-or-worse crashes than human drivers in comparable driving; both figures are company-reported, and access will expand gradually. For teams tracking Zoox’s path to paid autonomous rides, this is a distribution milestone: compare rider access, service-area coverage, and incident data—not city count alone—before treating expansion as evidence of general autonomy.
