House bill targets rogue AI agents
Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Mike Lawler introduced the Stop Rogue AI Act, which would give NIST 12 months after enactment to publish security standards for AI agents, according to Lawler’s announcement of the bill. The proposal would also push organizations toward machine-readable agent inventories and tamper-proof action logs; compliance would be voluntary for most companies but relevant to federal contractors. Teams already running agents should inventory identities and preserve action history now, because the recent cybersecurity shift in frontier models makes “who acted” a production control, not a paperwork detail.
