Bilibili prices $700M notes for AI growth
Bilibili priced $700 million of convertible senior notes due 2031, with $200 million subscribed by Tencent, and earmarked part of the proceeds for AI-driven content comprehension, recommendation, creation, and productivity in its financing announcement. The company is also authorizing up to $300 million in share repurchases, so this is not pure AI capex: capital allocation mixes capability-building with shareholder and Tencent transactions. For builders, China’s AI model price war is useful context: consumer platforms are funding proprietary AI as a distribution and efficiency layer, not necessarily selling a standalone model.
