ADI buys Alif for $1.35B edge AI

Analog Devices will acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion in cash, with up to $200 million in contingent consideration, according to ADI’s transaction announcement. Alif’s EdgeAI microcontrollers and fusion processors bring low-power, on-device inference and sensor fusion into ADI’s sensing, power, connectivity, and software stack; closing is expected before the end of 2026, subject to antitrust review. For teams deciding between cloud calls and embedded inference, the deal is another signal to price latency and power as first-class AI constraints—alongside the archive’s case for intelligence moving into chips.
