South Korea plans K-AI cities by 2030

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport unveiled a K-AI City strategy targeting AI-specialized pilot cities around 2030, with Wonju and Cheonan–Asan as test beds and Saemangeum and Gwangju as model cities. The Ministry-backed implementation plan organizes the build around five tasks, including urban AI services, intelligent infrastructure, commercialization, and legal foundations; related laws are planned by 2027. For builders, this is a procurement signal rather than a deployment date: watch the 2027 rulebook before underwriting Korean urban-AI contracts, while Naver’s 200MW Korean AI factory plan shows where national demand could land.
