Egypt plans a $1B sovereign AI buildout

Vodafone Business, Elsewedy Electric, and Cassava Technologies plan Egypt’s first sovereign AI data center inside a project targeting $1 billion and 200 MW, according to the companies’ data-center financing plan. The project details start at 20 MW over three years, expect roughly $200 million in initial foreign investment, and use NVIDIA GPUs with local GPU-as-a-Service so data stays in Egypt. For operators, Egypt joins Naver’s 200MW AI-factory buildout as a capacity target—not delivered compute—so qualify local power, permitting, and commissioning before budgeting sovereignty.
