GitHub gives enterprises three Copilot agent controls

GitHub now gives Copilot Business and Enterprise administrators 3 controls—deny, ask for approval, or allow—for agent shell commands, file reads and edits, and network domains, according to GitHub’s managed-permissions announcement and its deny-ask-allow documentation. That is a governance layer, not a blanket kill switch: restrictions cannot be weakened by user or workspace settings or saved approvals, while HydraFusion’s workflow-cost analysis shows why teams are increasingly routing more work through agents. Platform teams should map sensitive operations to “ask” before expanding agent access; test whether approval latency, not model quality, becomes the bottleneck.
