GSA gives governments 50% off OpenAI usage
The U.S. General Services Administration’s new OneGov agreement gives eligible federal, state, local, and tribal governments a 50% discount on token-based ChatGPT usage for 27 months, with no platform-access fee, minimum order, or spend commitment. GSA’s announcement says the offer starts October 1, 2026, and follows roughly $1.68 billion in OneGov savings and AI agreements reaching about 3.5 million federal employees. For operators, seat price is no longer the first gate: consumption budgets, data controls, and federal AI procurement rules now decide whether “cheap” becomes deployable.
