Harness finds agent confidence outruns control

Harness’s 2026 Agent DLC report surveyed 700 engineers and engineering leaders at enterprises already running agents; 87% reported an agent-related security event in the prior year and 60% overspent an agent budget in the previous two quarters, according to the report. The sample is committed adopters and self-reported, so it is a warning baseline rather than an industry census. Teams scaling agents should compare confidence with hard gates—agent evaluation is a governance control, not a leaderboard score.
