House targets 100 MW data-center cost rule
House leaders expect to bring H.R. 9340, the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act, to the floor next week; the bill defines a large-load customer as a non-residential site or campus with peak demand of at least 100 MW, according to Bloomberg Government’s report on the planned vote. The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s summary says state regulators would be asked to consider making those customers cover the full incremental generation, transmission, and distribution upgrades, plus provide financial assurances. It is not law and would not impose a nationwide tariff, but AI-campus developers should add the 100-MW threshold to site and power-contract models alongside the archive’s grid-connection analysis.
