Oracle books $30B in new AI-cloud contracts
Oracle closed more than $30 billion in additional AI-cloud contracts in its fiscal first quarter, pushing remaining performance obligations to $664 billion, while cloud-infrastructure revenue more than doubled to $7.4 billion, according to Oracle’s Q1 FY2027 earnings release and CNBC’s earnings report. That backlog is not current revenue—Oracle says it includes contracted but unrecognized revenue, deferred revenue, and uncollected invoices—but it records how much future capacity customers are reserving. Builders planning model capacity should treat Oracle as a demand signal, not a guarantee of available GPUs; the grid-access bottleneck facing AI data centers still sets the delivery clock.
