Nvidia's Groq deal faces a DOJ probe

The DOJ is examining Nvidia’s reported $17B–$20B Groq license-and-hire transaction for possible antitrust evasion, according to The Next Web’s report. Nvidia took a non-exclusive technology license and hired Groq executives instead of buying the company; no finding of wrongdoing has been announced. The arrangement belongs beside Nvidia’s local-inference routing trade-off: builders should file license-and-hire deals as a procurement and governance risk, not treat them as proof that a rival was legally acquired.
