AI servers hit a $166.3B quarter
IDC says worldwide server revenue reached a record $166.3 billion in Q2 2026, up 52% year over year, while GPU-accelerated server prices rose 43.6% even as GPU unit shipments fell 10.8%, according to IDC’s Q2 server tracker. The Register’s report on the numbers notes that AI servers generated 52.6% of total market revenue as demand spread beyond hyperscalers to neoclouds, governments, and enterprises. For teams budgeting inference hardware, file this as a supply-and-facility warning: demand is rising, but price, power, and readiness can move faster than unit volume—much like Naver’s 200MW AI factory buildout.
