Google rolls out age assurance in Canada
Google is beginning a gradual Canadian rollout of machine-learning age assurance that estimates whether an account holder is over or under 18 using signals already associated with the account. In Google’s rollout note, under-18 classifications activate protections such as restricted recommendations and personalized ads; adults can correct a mistaken result through ID or selfie verification. Builders serving minors should treat the model as a routing signal, not proof of age, and design an appeal path alongside the archive’s evidence-first AI compliance playbook.
