Nuance Labs raises $50M for face-to-face AI

Nuance Labs raised $50 million in Series A funding to build a single full-duplex audiovisual model that perceives and responds to human speech, gaze, gesture, and timing. In its funding announcement, the former Apple researchers’ startup says its first public research preview will arrive later this year, so no product or performance result is available yet. Builders should file this as a bet on replacing stitched transcript-to-LLM-to-avatar stacks, not as deployment proof; SoundHound’s voice-platform integration analysis shows why a compelling interface still needs an operating and revenue bridge.
