OpenAI buys Glass Imaging for $300M

OpenAI acquired Glass Imaging, an AI smartphone-camera startup, in a deal valued at more than $300 million, a report relayed from The Wall Street Journal says. Glass was valued at roughly $100 million in its 2025 funding round, putting the reported purchase price at about 3× that mark; OpenAI has not disclosed its product plans for the company. Builders watching OpenAI’s audio-first device strategy should treat this as a hardware-capability acquisition, not proof that a camera product is shipping.
