Pony.ai unveils a Level 4 robotruck

Pony.ai unveiled a Level 4 battery-electric heavy-duty robotruck with GAC, with volume production scheduled later in 2026, the launch release says. Its Gen-4 kit uses nine lidars, three millimeter-wave radars, and 13 cameras; Pony.ai says the kit’s bill of materials is 70% lower than its previous generation and transport cost per ton-kilometer should fall 30%—company projections, not independent deployment results. Freight operators should file this as a route-economics signal, then test redundancy, weather performance, and cost per loaded ton before treating the hardware as a fleet plan; Pony.ai’s European autonomous-fleet trial supplies the archive’s comparison point.
